Thursday 3rd December 2020 Day 254
It’s raining it’s pouring, it’s grey and it’s cold. Well I suppose it’s November and more the sort of weather we should expect.
9.30 I wish I had one of those dogs that stands in the doorway on a rainy day, blinks a couple of times and returns to its bed with a sigh. I don’t think rain is on Audrey’s radar I suppose because she is part poodle; so we set off before the really heavy rain gets going and return very wet and very muddy so it’s a hose down job for Audrey but I manage to resist it for myself and am content with changing my socks when I get indoors.
I wonder how we are all going to feel when ‘normality’ returns? For me, having spent nearly ten months not going to the shops or having takeaways and only eating out once over the summer before this last lockdown, I can honestly say I haven’t missed doing those things on a regular basis.
Years ago when we were struggling with the mortgage and bringing up small children, we probably went out for a meal about three times in a year. The great thing was that it was a ‘main’ event, hugely looked forward to simply, because we didn’t do it very often. I don’t think I shall be rushing off to do any of those things. A holiday would be nice but even missing out on that this year wasn’t a major problem. I am glad to have had the company, mostly on walks, of my friends; that is what has made it ok for me but it has made me realise that you don’t have to go out for a meal to socialise.
16.00 The day has been pretty awful, constant rain and grey but at least I have got some bits done towards Christmas and even wrapped some presents.
Nice to think about bright summer days in the garden on a washout day like today
