Christmas in a Caravan

Friday 18th December 2020 Day 269

9.00   This is the first day this week I haven’t had to drive anywhere so I can get on with some Christmassy bits.

I tried again with Audrey’s foot last night, she gets herself in such a state that she is open mouthed panting.  Any dogs I have had in the past would lie quietly if you needed to extract a thorn or something, this one is a whole different kettle of fish and trust her as I do, I’m not so keen on the rumblings in her throat when I have a go, those teeth are big and magnificent and I have a very healthy respect for them.  Any ideas anyone?  I just want to see what we are dealing with.

12.00  Ooh it’s a horrid grey day today, so different from yesterday. We went for a short walk and I did some garden tidying for half an hour when we got back but it wasn’t pleasant.

Well for us Strictly-files we have the final tomorrow.  This programme has been such a ray of sunny comfort, like a comfy pair of slippers.  I wonder though, we all get sated with our jobs sometimes;  do you think the dancing pros ever get up in the morning and groan “If I have to do one more fleckle”!?  Bill Bailey has to be the star this year, the one included clown who would have been expected to go out by week three, has stunned everyone with his dancing talent and arrived in the final, good for him.

Tomorrow I am going to meet Jackie, a great friend of mine who I haven’t seen for quite a while, we will go to the ‘car café’ on Ashdown Forest. We will get some takeaway coffee from Perry hill nurseries and place our cars so that we can open the driver’s doors facing each other out of the rain, well it’s a lot better than nothing that’s for sure.

15.20   I have now had six calls on both my house and mobile phones.  Apparently there has been some ‘unusual activity’ in my bank account and they would like to speak to me.  They have asked that I return the call with my bank details.  Does anyone really get taken in by these scam calls anymore?  Surely not.  I decided to phone the bank as I had had so many calls, to report it and give them the number.  I have to say that after half an hour I gave up. After they had tried to point me to various websites in order not to have to take calls, I finally got to a point where they said they were exceptionally busy due to Covid (that old excuse!) and then that I was in a queue that was currently thirty minutes long.  I think I will just ignore the phone calls, it’s much easier.

Another picture from Petworth where I was yesterday, now wouldn’t that be a nice place to spend Christmas?
