Monday 27th July 2020 Day 125

7.30  Not the best of weekends weather wise and I wake up to pouring rain again.  Well the ground needs it I suppose and no excuse not to catch up with indoor stuff.

9.30  A knock at the door and a roaring from Audrey, enough to frighten an army, I wish she wouldn’t do that but protecting is what a dog does, she’s just so bloomin’ loud!  Sarah and Pat are standing on my doorstep on their way for a walk in the rain.  Pat has brought me a couple of the pretty material masks she has been making, which is very kind and they are so much more comfortable than the box of a hundred throw away ones I already have.  I saw a picture of a mask over the weekend with a pair of lips painted in the middle, it looked very odd!

I know what I should be doing indoors but it is so boring, so instead I get on with making pooh stick boats for the kids for when we go next time.  Twig rafts fixed together with raffia, a wooden skewer for a mast and I am still debating the sail.  Well why not?  And they will be thrilled with them.

I may do odd things but they pale into insignificance with my two seven and eight-year-old grandchildren.  One, – boy of course! had the clever thought over the weekend to draw eyes on his tummy and make out he was whistling through his navel! Whilst the eight-year-old girl who loves the sea and sand as much as I do, has been very cross at any suggestions to go to the beach.  We have just discovered that she has heard that there may well be a second ‘wave’ of Covid 19 and she doesn’t want to

be on the beach when it comes!

11.30  Today in our slimming group, the zoom meetings (soon to come to an end and be replaced by rigid meetings back in the hall, which don’t sound at all nice) we heard from one slimmer who had made a lasagne for her family over the weekend.  “How did you make the white sauce?” was the question from our leader. “I used a slimming group recipe” came the reply.  “I made it with butter beans and quark” Really?? Come on!  At least her family can use the Covid excuse to stay away from the next feast she has in mind!

12.30  Janet Sarah and I didn’t meet in the fields afterwards due to the rainy weather but had a chat on what’s app.  My Wi-fi kept cutting out until eventually I had to give up and then it was off to the woods with Audrey where we managed to elude the rain before it started again later.  She came in the car with me afterwards while I went on a few errands and kept setting off the car alarm every time I locked the car doors, so we kept it short.

18.00  I am desperate for something sweet so tonight I’m going to have pudding!    I am having ‘School days citrus pudding’ which I found on the internet and will use some of the many lemons I have in the fruit bowl, which for some odd reason I keep ordering each week and not using, apart from for the gin of course.
