Thursday 27th August 2020 Day 156

5.40   Worry has obviously decided that the fact I have been waking at a more sociable time for the last few mornings, it’s not right, so she is going to endless trouble to make sure she wakes me now and frankly I could wring her neck right at this moment!  She even has the nerve to be asking for her breakfast in that very irritating ‘asking for breakfast meowl show’ she puts on.  I pick her up and place her firmly on the floor and suggest to her that she goes elsewhere but not as nicely as that.  Her response is to give me a withering look and start cleaning a front paw.

7.00  I didn’t really get back to sleep after that so I’m still annoyed with her.  She on the other hand is out for the count in the basket where she is actually supposed to sleep, perhaps I should meowl in her ear and see how she likes it.

9.00   I am listening to the news.  It seems that Coronavirus is accelerating in France and France feels uncomfortably close.  With autumn just around the corner and lock down over, I do hope care will be taken.  Two of our local pubs have had to close because of coronavirus cases in the last few weeks, the thought of a possible second wave over winter is so scary.

13.30  We set off for our walk but there is rain in the air and by the time we get home it has become very windy with the rain obviously set in for the day which has put paid to my intentions of mowing the grass for the first time in weeks.  The grass is slowly recovering and losing its yellowness but the regrowth has been very slow.  The morning got used up in the end with various errands and yet another trip to the tip, only this time I had to queue for ages, perhaps everyone is using this time for a good clear out.

I have the carrot soup I made yesterday for lunch, it’s very nice but there seems to be gallons of it and I wouldn’t want it every day for the next fortnight so I will freeze most of it.

18.30  Well this has definitely not been a day to remember, pretty grey and dreary so I think I will cheer myself up while I make dinner, with finishing up the very nice bottle of Languedoc Syrah wine I was given, not only is it a good wine but the actual bottle is very attractive too, I love anything French, they have such a special creative flair; the wine is Cote des Roses, the bottle has a pink tinged glass stopper and the bottom of the bottle is sculpted into a rose.  The wine didn’t last long but the bottle is for keeping.
