8.15 My Groceries arrive. This week there is a pile of stuff because of my error last week but interestingly I managed to get through the week perfectly well with only five items that were delivered due to my looking at the wrong delivery date; there was more than enough in my stock cupboard, fridge and freezer; the gin helped of course! It has made me think though that if it comes to the point that we have to start rationing our food a bit, it’s not going to be too much of a hardship.
The virtual cocktail party happened on Friday. I rather lost my way in the setting up, so there were a few what’s app messages saying people could not get in but we managed eventually. I couldn’t help likening my situation to a Mr Bean episode ten minutes beforehand. I had my nice blue cocktail all set up in one of my precious antique cocktail glasses that I rarely use, because I daren’t. I placed it next to the computer which also was all set up and ready. If I had left it at that all would have been well but for some reason, I decided to bring my knitting into the equation as there was time to do a row or two. At this point Audrey started barking by the front door. In my hurry to get there, I managed to wrap some wool round my ankle as I went and pull the full glass with me which of course smashed into a sticky mess on the floor. It was at this point I started receiving the messages to say people couldn’t get in. I quickly barricaded the sticky mess with all the glass shards against cat and dog feet and somehow managed to carry on!
11.30 I was due to meet up with a friend today for coffee at a plant nursery but she has just phoned to say she can’t make it. In a way although I was looking forward to see her, it was a bit of a relief as I am beginning to get a bit nervous again, especially if we
were going to have to sit inside. Also, we have a Covid case in the village now, maybe we have had more but this is the only one I have heard of and bearing in mind what a small village it is, it really does feel that it is ramping up again. This has to be balanced of course with the fact that we have to live our lives. As it happens, I haven’t seen another soul this weekend and two days is about as much as I can manage in my own company. Apologies to Audrey and Worry but they are not great conversationalists.
The trees at the bottom of my garden have been disrupting the lovely view with their low branches, so my son has sawn off one large branch which has made a huge difference and let some light in, I think a bit more pruning would be good but I am happy with this for now.
