Monday 5th April 2021 Day 377
7.30 I’m up and ready for my groceries this time, I have no intention of getting caught out like last week again and it’s bloomin’ freezing. What a lovely surprise yesterday though with wall to wall warm sunshine which was not what the forecast told us to expect on Easter day.
My eldest and her family popped over in the morning for coffee and we set up a little Easter egg hunt in the garden for her two children. Little did we realise at first that Audrey was following silently behind us grabbing the occasional egg that happened to be in her reach! Luckily the chocolate didn’t seem to have any effect on her and there were plenty more of the colourful speckled eggs for the kids.
9.00 Typically because I have been up and ready since eight o clock, the groceries arrive now at the latest time they could between eight and nine.
One of the things I love about Easter is the fact that it is a sort of double weekend, it’s like having two Saturdays before Sunday and then the extra day, Monday tacked on the end. In fact today I am going for an eye test today, which I do feel a little nervous about because of the necessary close
proximity to the optician but I guess they have that covered.
10.15 Time for the dog walk, yesterday I walked in a thin jumper, today it’s going to be back to the fleecy layers and a hat, what on earth is going on with this weather? Audrey’s coat is looking very shaggy and I am wondering if we might make a visit to a poodle parlour, after all she is half poodle, although I don’t think the French poodle pom pom style would be quite for her, she’d never forgive me.
Audrey has become very pally with my daughter’s rather extraordinary chicken, Blue. Blue was at death’s door not so long ago but my daughter with her apparently magical healing powers (she nursed two pet rabbits back to health from the deadly mixomatosis a few years ago and recently a goldfish, who, it turned out was just depressed and in need of another fishy friend!) has nursed Blue back to full health and she now lives in the garden but spends most of her time sitting on the kitchen windowsill keeping an eye on Nic and tapping on the window in the hopes I imagine, that they will let her in. Audrey thinks Blue is great and follows her around and tries to play and is in fact starting to win her over.
No more excuses, out into the arctic conditions for a bit of ball throwing and back home for a hot coffee before my exciting eye test adventure!
