Tuesday 3rd November Day 224
6.30 Rain bashing the window again and has woken me up, I thought it was supposed to be a better day today. A quick look at the BBC weather on my phone and it looks like it is set to get brighter, I really hope so.
7.30 I switch on the shower and discover there is no hot water, so it’s out to the boiler shed to stare at the boiler wondering what can be the matter with it, along with a bit of under breath muttering. Then from somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind, I remember Ray telling me that sometimes the pressure goes down and you have to attach the hose and run water until the gauge goes up again. I turn the levers and attach the hose and am delighted to see the needle move steadily upwards. Job done and getting rather chilly in my pj’s, only
trouble is that the boiler is still off, then I remember something about pushing a button, I see a red button at the bottom and push it. Hey presto the boiler is all fired up and I have visions of a new career as a plumber.
7.45 I am waiting for the water to heat up so I have a go at sorting out the knitting which has been going very well so far but has suddenly increased one stitch from somewhere which is throwing out the pattern. I spend half an hour trying to sort and have to give up for now. Must try to sort it later and not give up.
11.00 Time for walkies and the sun is shining which is very welcome. We take a longer walk today, the idea being that we avoid the muddy paths but it makes little difference, when we get back to the car Audrey is pretty much caked and has to go and rinse off in the swollen stream which is now up to the top of her legs.
After the walk we go down to Polegate where I’m dropping off some chai tray bakes I made yesterday, strange sort of cake, sweet but with a distinct curry flavour, I can’t make up my mind about them so I am sharing them with the family to see what they think before lockdown. I don’t think I would be winning any prizes on Bake off.
I hear on the radio today that ‘They’ are erecting thousands more wind turbines in the sea to ‘reduce the carbon footprint’ to the required amount. It seems that the sea is so full of unexploded bombs from the two world wars, that they are having to be exploded in order to make the vast areas needed, safe. This is causing massive carnage and sound pollution to marine life. Seems a high price to pay.
