Thursday 24th September 2020 Day 184
06.45 It’s raining again and pretty hard from the sound of it. We will have to try and dodge the showers for our walk this morning.
08.30 I arrive at the surgery for a routine blood check; as usual I am the only one in the waiting room until I go in. The only thing that I can see is different is that there are five doctors names on the board in surgery this morning, before there was only one. Where are all these people who were filling the room to bursting at every surgery time, every day? Surely every patient cannot be dealt with by a phone call, although I am sure that many of the people who used to come with the slightest ailment, are probably deciding better of it.
09.30 The rain has stopped and the sun has come out in a blue cloudless sky, it reminds me of the trip to Bosham the other day when I arrived at high tide, the sky was very moody but it quickly turned to sunshine. Seeing that photo reminded me of a time more years ago than I care to remember when a boyfriend took me out in his Mk 2 Jaguar. We went to Bosham and for a meal in the pub overlooking the water, the Jag was parked on what I suppose is called the causeway. Unfortunately we hadn’t seen the notices about the high tides and the water was inching up the car before we noticed. The boyfriend’s efforts to impress were rather ruined when he had to wade out to the car, trousers rolled up and get it out of the water just in the nick of time! These days of course when there are so many people you have to park up in the car park.
Anyway I digress, we walked this morning in that nice little window of blue sky and sunshine before the rain clouds returned.
16.15 I arrive back home after a round trip to East Grinstead for a hair cut and to see a couple of friends. I hadn’t meant to be so long but time slipped by as it does and poor old Aud got left for longer than I care to leave her for a second day. She is forgiving but also requiring lots of fussing.
Today we have been told that we can download the NHS Covid 19 trace and track app. The trouble is that you can only download it if your phone is new and smart enough so there are going to be an awful lot of people who can’t download it, never mind all the oldies who possibly don’t even have a mobile phone and possibly wouldn’t know how to download an app even if they did have one. Mustn’t be pessimistic before it has even been tried out I know but…….
