Tuesday 6th October 2020 Day 196
6.30 Another good night’s sleep and in bed before midnight too, long may it last.
7.00 I come downstairs to make a cup of tea and discover that I only have one tea bag left and the supermarket delivered yesterday. I wonder how many times I could use the same teabag before the water didn’t even turn brown? I might actually venture into a shop later and buy some.
Today I need to get ready for a night away tomorrow, it is a rearranged visit after having to cancel a trip to the theatre in Southampton to see an alternative version of Pride and Prejudice (sort of) described as a ‘rambuncious Glasgow originated show’ and generally have a couple of days ‘jolly’ with three friends. Of course it just had to be in March so we couldn’t go and sadly the theatre has now closed down as have so many this year.
So, we rearranged the trip for this week, thinking of course that we would all likely be back to normal by October and here we are and we are far from back to normal, an obvious remark I know. But we are going to go anyway. We have the booking at the hotel, no theatre trip of course but we will do some sight seeing instead and behave sensibly, which frankly is not a thing we are used to doing when we go for some fun, to coin that lovely word earlier, we can be rambunctious.
10.00 Our last on line Slimming group and typically the menu suggestion this week for cauliflower soup, I actually like the sound of. It is a shame it is stopping but the idea of the in out system at the hall does not fill any of the three of us with enthusiasm so we are dropping out for the moment.
11.00 We meet in the field for a walk and a talk as we do on a Tuesday. We are going to form our own little group and pay a £1.00 fine whenever we have put weight on (or should I say optimistically ‘if ever’). What we will do with the pot of money when it is full, I don’t know but I rather suspect it will go towards a nice meal out.
Continuing with my slow cooking theme, today I am making a dish called Chicken Agrodolce with oregano and wine vinegar, garlic and brown sugar and bay leaves, capers olives and prunes. An odd mix but I like to try different things sometimes.
14.30 It is raining now but after my lovely walk at Pevensey on Saturday when the weather turned so nice for a couple of hours, I am going to take advantage of the slightest bit of sun this winter. We were lucky with our walk this morning and in the woods yesterday, another moment of happy sunshine breaking through the trees.
