Thursday 21st January 2021 Day 303
7.30 It seems that I was not the only one having a shower this morning and judging by the foot prints in the tray, I should imagine a shower was much needed.
In order to tell you this next bit, I have to admit that I do play games sometimes on my phone! And if you play games too, you will know that you have to put up with plagues of advertising videos.
This morning a video came on, advertising some sort of amazing sealant which you saw being applied to leaky roofs, sinks, floors etc, then bricks were laid in a square, sealant applied and the now water tight area filled with water. Into this they poured half a dozen fish which all swam about. Next was what looked like a small bread basket which they covered in the stuff, poured water in and then tipped
what looked like the same group of fish into the small area, the only trouble was that the fish, probably by now full of chemicals from the newly sealed brick arrangement, all looked dead as Dodos. What a shame. Unfortunately the name of the company slipped my mind.
It’s lovely to see some sunshine this morning and thank goodness the wind has abated after all the carnage it caused last night. I must have more nooks and crannies in my cottage
than I knew that the wind seemed to find, just couldn’t get warm through the evening. It’s pretty chilly out there but we will be walking in sunshine which will be lovely.
12.00 We haven’t been walking far or for long enough lately due to the weather and I am well aware of it, so today we are going on a proper hike, taking in some road walking where we can get a proper move on, as well as fields for Aud to rush about in. I do think dogs need to go to different places, she loves to go somewhere where there are a whole new bunch of smells and I like somewhere different as well. It is great walking weather with that bit of sunshine and in fact I have put too many layers on as its not as cold as I thought but I would always rather be too warm than too cold.
Just literally as we got indoors after the hosing down, the heavens opened and we even had a quick sudden heavy hail downpour thrown in for good measure. That’s not the way it works usually but I’m very glad it did today and we were inside and warm and dry.
14.30 I heard from a friend in Wales today whose village has been flooded by this latest storm, and houses and restaurants which have just been flooded for the third time this year, never mind the fact that the restaurants have had to close due to lockdown, how on earth do you pick yourself up from that.
On a brighter note I see the bulbs are starting to push through and the violets outside my front door are starting to bloom.
