The Caravan calls

Thursday 17th September 2020 Day 177

6.45   My alarm invades the end of a very involved dream I was having, so I will never know how it ended, although when I try to recollect it, it fragments as dreams do.  No heron again, perhaps it was just a chancer and with a bit of luck it won’t be back, although I won’t be holding my breath.

7.30    To Audrey’s surprise I am up and dressed, the reason being that I am going to my caravan for a few days tomorrow and as it was a sudden decision, I have quite a lot to do today.  I haven’t been to it for over a year so I expect it will be pretty filthy from standing out in all weathers so my first job when I get there, will be to clean it, which is quite a big job entailing ladders etc and Janet my wonderful stalwart friend has offered to come and help me clean it.  Yvonne will kindly feed Worry for me and keep an eye on the house, I am so lucky to have such good friends.

10.00  We go for our walk.  We meet an elderly bandy-legged Bull terrier along the way who shows a lot of interest in Audrey and she tries to entice him to play but it looks as if he is concentrating on just staying upright, so she defers to her elder and runs on.

A little peak at the Irish Post which tells of ‘Heart Breaking footage’ of a pensioner using a slush puppy as hand gel and that Ireland should invite the American President over in order to promote tourism….erm?

I have been thinking gently about the prospect of moving just lately.  I have no particular desire to move but I think I need somewhere a bit smaller and less demanding.  I would love to live in Lewes but house prices are very high there.  Lewes has everything, ancient town, beautiful buildings, the river Ouse running through and not forgetting Harveys Brewery belching the smell of hops over the town, sitting beside the river as it has done since 1790 producing its wonderful beers…….however my good friends are here and from where I sit friends are more important than places, so I will keep a lookout for something to come up locally.

13.00  I have done the washing, sorted the pond and got together all the cleaning paraphernalia I will need.  I am going to take food with me as I am still not comfortable about eating out, it’s a shame really as Bracklesham has a very decent fish and chip shop, although I’m not saying I definitely won’t.

My daughter will be looking after Audrey while I am away and the children are looking forward to it, she will be spoilt rotten of course.

18.00   Just got the car to pack which shouldn’t take long and time for a large g & t while my dinner cooks

2 Thoughts on “The Caravan calls

  1. Enjoy your caravan. We have only had 1 week in our van this year due Covid and Toms knee operation. Hopefully next year will be better for everyone. Hope the weather keeps fine for you

    1. Hi Angela, believe it or not I am still trying to get my head around replying to comments on this website! I did reply before but can’t see it anywhere! Yes let’s hope with Tom’s knee better you will be able to get away in your caravan again next year. I am really glad I had those couple of days away and recharged my batteries a bit. The weather was brilliant, I was so lucky. Take care
