Thursday 17th December 2020 Day 268
8.05 Oh Joy! what a good start to the day. I am driving to the surgery for a routine test and as I round the corner where the signs change from 40 to 30 mph there is a sneaky police car with a speed camera and I get zapped, I think I was doing 35 which of course I shouldn’t have been but I wish instead they would pay more attention to real speeders who just seem to get away with it.
9.00 The news as expected is that many counties are going into Tier 3 from Saturday due to the 46% rise in cases. I can’t help wondering whether there really has been that meteoric rise or whether it is just because so very many more people are being tested but whatever it is it makes depressing news. There will still be the break for Christmas which seems odd although I imagine there would be riots if that were changed too.
I haven’t got any further with trying to find out what is wrong with Audrey’s back foot, she just won’t let me anywhere near it and whimpers if I so much as touch it, I am at a bit of a loss. We go for a short walk and I refuse to throw the ball for her however much she begs as she tends to skid along when she is on top of it which I don’t think would be good for the foot. I try to dry her foot as well as possible when we get back but really don’t get very far.
11.30 I am setting off for Petworth park to meet my daughter for the last time before Christmas. It is such a lovely day and quite a bit warmer too, such a pretty journey through Upper Beeding Bramber Storrington and Pulborough.
13.15 We meet and there are quite a few cars in the car park but people disperse once they get into the pleasure gardens. We climb the hill to the ionic rotunda which I read was suggested by Capability Brown and when seen from below is supposed to represent the steep and difficult climb to fame. Lovely views from there but we don’t feel very famous.
